Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering at Sanjay Bhokare Group of Institutes was
established in the academic year 2009–2010 with an intake of 60 students. The Department has been
guided by a clear vision to produce skilled, competent, and socially responsible Civil Engineers capable
of addressing the infrastructure and developmental needs of the nation. Since its inception, the
department has steadily grown in terms of academic strength, infrastructure, laboratories, and faculty
expertise, aligning itself with the evolving needs of the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Initially affiliated with Shivaji University, Kolhapur, the Department transitioned its
affiliation to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere (DBATU) in the A.Y.2017-
2018, in line with state-level academic reforms. In A.Y. 2018-2019 the intake was reduced to 30. This
transition enabled the Department to adopt outcome-based education practices and strengthen its focus
on research, innovation, and professional competence.

A significant milestone in the Institute’s journey was achieved in the academic year
2024–2025, when the institute was granted academic autonomy. This autonomy has empowered the
Department of Civil Engineering to design a flexible, industry-oriented curriculum, incorporate
emerging technologies, promote skill-based learning, and introduce value-added courses, internships,
and project-based learning in collaboration with Industry and Professional Bodies. From A.Y. 2026-
2027 again the intake increased to 60 students.

Over the years, the department has established a strong record of student placements in
both Government and Private sectors. Graduates of the Department are successfully serving in
Government Organizations, public sector undertakings, consultancy firms, infrastructure companies,
and reputed construction industries, many of them holding responsible and higher-level positions. The
department also motivates students to pursue higher education, competitive examinations, and research
careers.

With experienced and dedicated faculty members, modern laboratory facilities, and
strong industry interaction, the department remains committed to its mission of preparing industry-ready
Civil Engineers who possess technical competence, ethical values, leadership qualities, and a lifelong
learning attitude. The Department continues to evolve as a centre of Academic Excellence, contributing
to sustainable infrastructure development and societal progress.
